Local supporters of the Malelane Golf Club spent an enjoyable day on the golf course during Saturday’s Duck ‘n Dive Golf Day. They aim to make it an annual event to boost interest in the club and hopefully gain more members.
The combination of a scenic 3km route and being bombarded with powder paint at intervals proved very popular at Riverview Prep School in Malalane on Saturday morning, Over 100 parents, learners, staff and other community members participated in the event to raise funds for the Grade 7 farewell gift.
Over 500 athletes from clubs all over Mpumalanga competed in the Boulders Marathon’s 10- and 25-kilometre routes in Kaapmuiden and surrounds on Saturday. The annual event is hosted by the Onderberg Marathon Club and The United Church of Christ the King. This year several of the top runners set up faster times than last year’s winners.

Great weather, camaraderie, challenging routes and beautiful scenery made Saturday’s Nkomazi MTB Challenge a great success. A total of 450 cyclists competed in the Mpumalanga Marathon Series event, hosted by Laerskool Malelane.
The first and second teams of Malelane proved too tough for the visiting teams from Barberton during a league match-up on Saturday. The Olifante utilised their speed and some great teamwork to get and keep the upper hand.
Riverview Prep School in Malalane was crowded with enthusiastic u/7 and u/8 hockey players from all over the Ehlanzeni region on Saturday. The school hosted their annual hockey festival aimed at developing future hockey stars. The players had lots of fun.
Malelane Rugby Club’s second team were victorious in their match-up against Ngodwana in Malalane on Saturday. The tough match resulted in several injuries but the players were determined not to give up. The final score was 24-20 in Malelane’s favour.

Winning teams, best players and officials, as well as supporters, were rewarded for their efforts to make their year’s Selati Cup soccer tournament even bigger and better. The Awards ceremony was held at the Malelane Golf Club on Friday right and the MEC for Culture, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Selati Cup legend Lucas Thwala, as well as stakeholders were among the attendees.
The Impalas won the first Onderberg Cup match against rivals Malelane on Saturday. The tough match took place at the Malelane Rugby Club and the Impalas proved victorious with a final score of 22-7.
