Police hope that the accused will help lead them to the rest of the syndicate. They suspect the group was responsible for several house robberies where vehicles were stolen in the Tonga area.

Several house robberies and vehicle hijackings have also been reported in the Komatipoort area.
Const Natacia Mbuyane of Komatipoort SAPS urged residents to be extra vigilant and to ensure their doors are kept locked and alarms are activated at the appropriate times.
