A G4S cash-in-transit vehicle was robbed near KaMhlushwa this morning.

KAMHLUSHWA – Three vehicles with about ten suspects fled in the direction of Schoemansdal and Jeppes Reef after robbing a cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle just after 11:00 this morning.

According to Const. Zithulele Mhlongo of KaMhlushwa SAPS, the G4S Security vehicle was heading to KaMhlushwa from Schoemansdal when the driver noticed a BMW sedan approaching it at a high speed.

The suspects shot at the CIT vehicle and the driver was forced to a stop. Two other vehicles then boxed the CIT vehicle in.

The driver and security guard in the back were forced out and disarmed, before the robbers bombed the vehicle to gain access to the money.

Mhlongo says the whole operation took about five minutes and no injuries were reported.

The suspects fled with the security guards’ weapons and an undisclosed amount of cash.
