According to various social media platforms, four dead vultures were found in Lionspruit at the spot commonly referred to as “the vulture restaurant.” Carcasses of dead animals are dumped in this spot where these carnivores feed on them. Residents of Marloth Park are terribly concerned and according to a posting, the vulture conservation organisation, Vulpro and the Environmental Wildlife Fund will be called to assess the situation.

It is common knowledge that traditional healers and sangomas consider vultures to have healing powers and are in the habit of leaving a fresh carcass which had been poisoned, in order to lure other vultures to feed on it. Residents who are well acquainted with the bush are used to sights of dead vultures who no doubt have been poisoned to be sold as muti.
